Happy First Birthday Eliana!

It’s honestly kind of hard to find the words for this post. First I will say, I can’t believe its been a year. It’s been a whole entire year since this sweetie began making waves. She was born to change the world, and she did just that. I never blogged the time I got to spend with Eliana. What a better time to honor her than on her first birthday. I met Naomi, Eliana’s momma the day before her scheduled c-section. We had been in contact for months before that when Naomi was planning a home birth. Shortly after Eliana’s parents found out her diagnoses of Trisomy 18, I said no matter what, I would still be at her birth. I walked into the hospital on December 4th for our meeting to talk about all the different scenarios of how Eliana’s birth could go, nervous as ever. I had no idea what to expect, but like I told myself for weeks, it’s not about me. It’s about them. It’s about her. The following day, December 5th. Eliana would be born. Would she be alive? How long will she live if so? Minutes? Days? Weeks? I (we) had no idea. How would she look? I will admit, I have never ever been as nervous as I was on this day. This day forever changed me. Here is a little tribute to honor my favorite and most inspiring baby I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I’ll keep it short, because I could go on and on… but Thank you Eliana for leaving your heart with me <3

Long time high school friends are having a baby! Thrilled and honored to document their first son entering this world. November, you can come on any time now!

While walking the streets of downtown Grove City, we stopped at the Lollipop stop. I had never been in before, and it was adorable. I can’t wait to take my kids back!

Surrogacy and adoption!

Pink or Blue?!

Ashley and Ryan have tried for months. No wait, years. To get pregnant. After many many months of endless disappointment, finally it happened for them. All in His timing. always.

THREE times they went to find out the gender of their baby. THREE TIMES! and each time baby wouldn’t show. Finally, fourth times a charm. Ashley and Ryan had the ultrasound tech put the ultrasound photo in a sealed envelope for Tasha and I to open. I squealed when we opened it. I couldn’t believe it! I had to keep my mouth shut (let’s face it, I just didn’t talk to Ashley for two days ;))

As some of you know, I am a very busy gal. I haven’t posted much on Face book or my blog lately because, I just don’t have time. My website needs some major revamping, and I’d love to re-brand at some point as well. I have however, found my passion in the mean time. Photography has always been a passion of mine. I love meeting new people constantly. I love watching babies grow up, families growing, and witnessing a past bride and a groom become parents. That, my friends, is it. Where my heart is. I still love the weddings and such as well. But there is something deep in my soul that drives me to push for this Birth Photography thing. I love it. Simply adore it. I have said it before, there is no greater feeling than becoming a parent yourself. That moment, that very first moment when you witness your innocent babies first breath of air. Imagine living that again and again. Imagine the emotion. Giving birth to my babies was by far my most favorite part of my life. And I get to witness miracles, each and every time. The thrill and excitement is amazing beyond words. So to make a long story short, this is where I am meant to be. I have a pretty flexible schedule, and a fabulous support system to back me up. With that being said, I will be closing the doors to the “portrait photographer/wedding photographer” part of my life. (for the most part anyway) With the exception of the few weddings I already have booked next month, I am going to put my heart and soul where it belongs. In the past few weeks, I have booked 7 new births spread over the next few months. I have plenty of back up and have thought this through over and over again in my head. As we all know, labor and delivery can be tricky. It will require me to be “on-call” and make some sacrifices on my end, but I’m so down for it.

So, there it is! Birth Photography will be my focus. I am so excited about this leap I can’t explain it! That doesn’t mean you can’t ask. For a family session , etc. Especially to my past clients. If I am not available, I can refer you to a few other of my favorite photographers out there! Thank you to each and every one of you who have ever been a part of my photography life as it has brought me here!

Norahs Birth Story

May 3rd. 2012. Doctors West Hospital. 9:35am. 7 lbs 5 oz 20 inches long. Norah Renee.

All natural! Momma went all natural! I have never seen an all natural birth before. No pain meds. None. I had no idea what to expect! Amara was amazing! I have no idea how she did it. Takes one strong woman that is for sure. I knew there would be screaming. and that is totally ok with me! haha! But she did fabulous! Thankfully it was quick. Super quick. I arrived at 9:00am. Baby Norah arrived at 9:35am. Talk about cutting it close! It was a miracle to watch, and I am so thankful I got to be there.

Congratulations Thompson family! She is so perfect. What a blessing!
